Description
Premium quality brass counter-top hinges from Davey & Co of England. These dove-tail brass hinges have a clear lacquer coating to keep them looking bright. They allow a benchtop flap to open and fold over through 180 degrees.
Manufactured from solid brass extrusion and brass pins, these hinges are available with a polished finish.

Important
These precision hinges are supplied non-lubricated. It is recommended that they are lubricated on installation and then at regular intervals thereafter.
Regular maintenance and lubrication of these hinges will enhance their lifespan and performance.
It is recommended that SAE80 min lubricating oil (or equivalent) be used.
In certain applications dry film lubricants should be used. e.g. dusty areas or areas that are regularly hosed with detergent solutions.
Care of Polished/Lacquered Hinges
This quality brass component has been treated with clear lacquer after polishing in order to protect it from tarnishing. However this will not last indefinitely and in aggressive atmospheric conditions (e.g. salt air, industrial pollution, etc) may break down more quickly.
You can help protect the life of the coating by regular washing with a mild detergent solution and then applying a non-abrasive wax polish. Metal or similar abrasive cleaners will damage the coating and must not be used.
Once the coating has broken down it can be removed by careful application of paint stripper, acetone or nail varnish remover. The component can then be cleaned prior to recoating with an exterior grade colourless gloss varnish.

Brass Counter Top Hinge
I have a older Grand Banks and typically the lazaretto hatches have these hinges. After 40 years, two broke on my vessel and I was having a hard time locating a replacement. I found these and installed them. I went with the 4" hinge, which almost perfectly. A little trimming with a chisel and we had a perfect fit. Very happy that my lazarette hatch is functional again.

Brass Counter Top Hinge
Owning a 30 year old Grand Banks, it is sometimes difficult to find quality matching hardware to fix it. This brass hinge was a perfect fit for one of my lazaret hinges that broke. It is the same heavy duty design and quality workmanship. Fit and worked perfectly. Now it just has to tarnish so it matches the other original hinges.
